Link HC is part of a Victorian-first Medication Support Service program aimed at reducing pharmaceutical misuse in eastern Melbourne.
The Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Care Network will provide $850,000 in funding to the Connect4Health partnership, which includes Link HC, to deliver the program. The program will provide specialist assessment and treatment for individuals and families affected by pharmaceutical misuse or dependence.
According to the Australian Journal of Pharmacy, pharmaceuticals contribute to over 80% of fatal overdoses in Victoria, with most of deaths deemed to be accidental. The Medication Support Service will provide a crucial referral pathway and treatment options for people who may not otherwise seek help.
