Did you know one in two women who have had gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) will develop type 2 diabetes? Also, one in three women who have had GDM will develop it again in a future pregnancy?
The Women After Gestational Diabetes program run in partnership with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute provides post-natal support for women with prior GDM to achieve healthy lifestyle goals, including diet and physical activity, which can reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes.
The program has a preventative focus to empower women to take action and reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
