Link Health and Community is committed to a connected, active, and healthier Monash local community.
We work in partnership with Access Health and Community and healthAbility to improve the health and wellbeing of our community in the eastern metro region (Boroondara, Manningham, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges local government areas). To do this, ‘the prevention partnership’ applies an integrated place-based, systems-thinking approach to health promotion.
Our work aims to address the following priority areas:
- Increase health eating: boosting nutritious and delicious options
- Increase active living: more moving and less sitting
- Reduce harm from tobacco and e-cigarette use: creating smoke and vape-free environments
- Place-based wellbeing policies: creating health environments that support the local community
We also look at how climate change, gender, and health equity impact our wellbeing, as well as how we can address these issues.
Our place-based approach:
We aim to create healthy places where we live, learn, work, connect and play, across these key settings:
- Early in life
- Early learning services
- Kindergartens
- Schools
- Primary and secondary schools
- Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)
- Sporting clubs and recreation facilities
- Other places in the community
- Neighbourhood houses
- Community health services
- Council-owned and run facilities, like libraries
- Prevention partners, like public health units
- Food environments, like canteens and community gardens
Our systems-thinking approach:
We use a systems-thinking framework, tools, and practice to achieve a healthier community.
